Past Conferences
Their report about a past Conference:
"At this conference, this has been an awesome week here at KHBC. God has ordained this time together and His people led us in very good Bible study which has brought us to know His word more fully and come to love Him and His Word even more; and what great fellowship!. Times as this is what every Christian needs. This has been the best summer of my life and I needed it; one to remember having it spent with friends that will last a life time."
Wass & Jean Mute; Yup'ik,
Koyuk, Alaska " I learned a very important lesson and one that will stay with me for as long as I live. I praise the Lord that he sent his servants from the Foothills Christian Fellowship in California to Kokrine Hills Bible Camp for a discipleship conference the week of August 1, 2004.
The lesson I learned was from a typo, whatever it was, intentional or not, I knew it was meant for me and as a pastor! We learned a lot about Following Jesus and the importance of taking Gods Word for what it is Gods Word. In Matthew 8:22, Jesus said, "follow me". On a nametag was my name, Wass Mute, with the words underneath it, "Jesus said, Follow Me, John 3:22". When I looked at it, something didn't make sense but after reading the verse John 3:22, it convicted me. John 3:22 ended with the words, and "He was spending time with them". Why would Jesus want me to follow him? Because, He wants to spent time with me, to be at one with him. You see, I did spend time with him in reading and studying His word, but on my terms. But now it will be different, after all, He (Jesus) is the teacher and I'm his student. Praise the Lord for his unmistakable word!" ( Wass and Jean also took time to renew their marriage vows.)
"We offer Col 2:5-7. We have been truly blessed and encouraged during our learning about being disciples of Jesus at KHBC. We are grateful for the teachers that God brought us. Learning more about the Word of God has built us up so that we can bring Him the glory only He deserves. We are also grateful for the testimonials of the all who attended. Our prayer is that each of us will remain strong, even courageous, faithful and not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ; fore it is the power that leads to salvation."
"This was an awesome time of growth for us as a couple, and increased our desire for service among our native people. We have learned that it is very important to keep everything in its proper context when studying and teaching from the Bible. Our oneness in marriage has also grown. Praise our Lord."
"We are reminded in Psalm 90:12 so teach us to count our days that we may gain a wise heart. This conference provided good reminders for servants as leaders to be grounded in Gods Word. The dynamics of the Bible and the Holy Spirit together equip all who are willing to be discipled. Participants arrived from remote places in Alaska to a beautiful camp on the Yukon River to be reminded that Gods arm is not short and that He loves and cares for us where we live. The presenters from Foothill Christian Fellowship were well prepared, using their gifts of teaching and exhorting Gods Word in ways we could understand. It is evident that they love God and care; traversing great distances, leaving comfort and families to openly share their lives with us. Gods word states that people without vision will perish. This vision is what we need to be able to bring hope to a people who are suffering great loss in our villages."
"This time at KHBC has been a real blessing to us. We thank our Lord for making it possible for us to attend. The teaching and fellowship has encouraged us to teach others in our village as well. God is so good! We are ready to serve."
Couple on Missions: "The most wonderful aspect was that we were at the conference together. It was encouraging to us as we learned how to be more effective in our ministry to other Native couples. Practical application of Gods Word directly from the the Bible when counseling has found a renewed meaning to us and we are more prepared and have a greater desire to do the work as a result of the teaching.
